BLOCK PRINT
Block Printing is probably the oldest technique in printmaking, practised throughout Asia and Australasia.
An image is carved onto a woodblock and then colour is applied onto the image, with pressure this image is transferred onto paper. Often different blocks are used for parts of the image in different colours. Examples are:
Li Chunhua (China)
Hasegawa Yuichi (Japan)
Takahashi Hiromitsu (Japan)
Stencil is also a block principle where image is carved onto a water-resistant material and colour applied. Examples is: Takahashi Hiromitsu (Japan)
