Ithipol Thangchalok (1946-2021) BFA graduate of Silpakorn University, Bangkok and MFA, University of Washington, Seattle, USA. 

 

Ithipol was one of Thailand’s premier specialists in mixed media and graphics. His mastery of print techniques is best known in Europe.

 

Ithipol was noted for his masterful skills in drawing and innovative ideas in art expression on paper and canvas, using silver foil, ground stone powder and combining print technique with original works.

 

The concept of Ithipol’s work was to combine natural energy with the theme of contrast, this he had worked continuously over the past 20 years of his artistic career.

 

He was interested in exploring the conflict between mind and material, water and fire, movement and silence; thus he chose to work on systematic design and pattern to articulate these thoughts.

 

Ithipol devoted his life long career to teaching; he retired as Head of Painting Dept of Silpakorn University.
