Wee Shoo Leong
|Born 1958, Singapore.
Shoo Leong graduated from Nanyang Art Acedamy and went onto study oil painting at Sydney College of the Arts. In 1984 he won the grand price of the UOB painting of the year art competition.
Many factors make Shoo Leong’s painting charming,
1) his background gives the illusion of movement. This is because he introduces shades of colour onto the canvas as his brush moves across the surface.
2) Shoo Leong places one object onto the canvas at a time and allow the painting to ‘tell’ him what the next object should be.
3) each little aspect of the object has its own dimension, even a string or a rattan of the cage is painted in 3 D.
4) he allow only minimum bright colour as focus.
